GOA extends financial support ahead of SA Youth C/ships

The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) through President, K.A. Juman Yassin has extended much needed financial support to the local track and field team ahead of departure for the South American Youth Championships which is billed for November 12-14 in Argentina.

Yassin handed over a cheque to the team’s manager, Mayfield Taylor-Trim at Olympic House, High Street on Tuesday with the team departing on the following day. The president of the Association also took the time to motivate the team to excel in the completion.
Daniel Williams, Tyrell Peters, Kenisha Phillips and Chantoba Bright are the members of the team that will be participating in the Championships and will be accompanied by Coach Johnny Greavesande.
President of the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG), Aubrey Hutson also speaking at the handing over encouraged the athletes to do well and make their country proud while benefiting from the exposure.
Phillips, and Peters, were also present at Tuesday’s conference and pledged to do their best as they go out to represent our country.
At this year’s event, Phillips will be performing in the girls’ 100m and 400m, CARIFTA Games silver medalist Bright will be in the girls’ triple jump and long jump, while Daniel Williams will be in the 100m and 200m, and Peters will compete in the boys’ high jump and 400m.
All four of the athletes were a part of the Guyana team at the CARIFTA Games earlier this year, and most recently were all apart of the athletics team that represented Guyana at the Inter-Guiana Games against athletes from Suriname.
