Gold miner nabbed with ganja

Police in Regional Division Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) on Sunday arrested a 24-year-old gold miner after 12 grams of suspected cannabis were found in his possession at the Itaballi Checkpoint.
According to police reports, the man, a resident of Albouystown, Georgetown, was the lone passenger in a motorcar that was stopped during a routine check at the checkpoint. Ranks conducted a search and discovered a transparent bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. The man was immediately arrested. The suspected narcotics were weighed and confirmed to total 12 grams. He remains in custody pending charge.
