ꟷ in CPL GAW practice match
Watched by a handful of spectators, the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) played the first of their two practice matches last night at the National Stadium at Providence, EBD.
Jamaican Brandon King was a standout with his 66 runs from 40 balls, while Captain Shoaib Malik played an exquisite innings of 47 as the GAW reached 210-6 in their 20 overs against a quality Cricket Guyana Inc. (CGI) Academy team led by the successful Leon Johnson.
Chandrapaul Hemraj hit a brisk 34, while Nicholas Pooran smashed 20.
CGI were restricted to 151-6, Tevin Imlach top-scoring with an unbeaten 38 while Trevon Griffith scored 35. They lost the match by 59 runs.
Another positive for the GAW was in the bowling department, wherein Chris Green returned economical figures of 2-14 in four magical overs.
GAW will continue their preparation with a second practice match tonight at this same venue.
