Playing at the Melanie Ground, East Coast Demerara as part of the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) leg of matches, Gordon netted in the 24th, 40th and 70th minutes while Collin Hendricks scored in the 78th. Paradise, who in the early exchanges dominated the possession, had a few chances went begging but they eventually broke the back of Buxton defence when Gordon etched his name on the score sheet with a scorching strike. Though Buxton created some chances, they failed to convert and occasional lapses in the field allowed Gordon to record his second goal and end the first half 2-0.
After first half, the battle ensued once more with Buxton desperately trying to reduce the lead with some canny counter attacks but Gordon downed the enthusiasm when with his third conversion followed by Hendricks to seal the comfortable victory.
In the other match, BV/Triumph United edged Golden Stars 3-2 via hat-trick by attacking mid-fielder Omari Glasgow. Golden Stars had initially taken the lead when Shamar Scott netted in the 20th but just on brink of the half time whistle, Glasgow found the back of the net in the 43rd to level the scores at the interval. Five minutes after the resumption, Glasgow picked up where he left-off, with his second conversion to put the Golden Starts unit under pressure.
Glasgow worked his magic once more when he sealed his hat-trick of goals in the 70th; Scott for his fighting efforts scored once more in the 80th but by then BV seemed they had the match under control.
Today fixtures will see Buxton Stars tackle Buxton Youth Developers from 13:00h followed by Ann’s Grove United against Mahaica Determinators from 15:00h.
Meanwhile, the West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) home team Den Amstel will be pitted against Stewartville from 12:00h.
