Government agencies coordinate support for IMC Over-40s World Cup

Preparations for the 2026 International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-40s World Cup have advanced, with Government agencies joining the Cricket West Indies Masters Association (CWIMA) t

o coordinate plans for the international tournament in Guyana.
The event, scheduled for October, will bring together 16 teams for 72 matches at venues across several regions. The tournament will feature 45-over cricket, with admission free for spectators at every match.
Minister within the Culture, Youth and Sport Ministry, Steven Jacobs convened the first joint inter-agency meeting on September 15, bringing together CWIMA representatives, the Ministry and other relevant Government agencies.
The discussions focused on the arrival of the visiting teams, transportation, medical services, and arrangements for players and spectators. Officials also discussed coordinating services across the host regions to ensure the teams have a smooth arrival and stay in Guyana.
Safety and security for the players and match officials were also identified as priorities. The Guyana Police Force is expected to visit the hotels and cricket grounds being used for the tournament as part of efforts to develop a security plan for the visitors.
Representatives from the Culture, Youth and Sport Ministry; National Sports Commission; Health Ministry; Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation; Civil Defence Commission s Guyana Emergency Medical Association; Guyana Police Force; Guyana Defence Force and other supporting agencies attended the meeting.
CWIMA was represented by Rajendra Singh, Roy Singh, Zamin Amin, Paul Archer, and Lawrence Farnum.
The association welcomed the government s continued support and thanked the participating agencies for their involvement. CWIMA also encouraged cricket fans across Guyana to attend the matches and support the participating teams.
