The Human Services and Social Security Ministry, through its Women’s Innovation and Investment Network (WIIN), has launched a new Climate Smart Agriculture course in collaboration with the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI).
The programme is part of a wider series of regional training initiatives aimed at equipping women with practical and sustainable agricultural skills. According to the Ministry, the initiative is designed to empower participants to adopt improved farming methods, contribute to national food security, and develop agricultural enterprises.
As part of the hands-on component of the training, participants are engaged in practical exercises including grafting and budding. These activities involve working with a range of fruit crops, such as grafting spice mango onto Julie mango plants, and combining grapefruit buds with lemon plants.
The Ministry indicated that the training programme will be expanded across other regions. Individuals interested in participating in the Climate Smart Agriculture course can register using the provided link: https://form.jotform.com/260415249284054.
