GPF and HEMAA dominate

Shuriken Martial Arts International Championships…

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) and the Harpy Eagle Martial Arts Academy (HEMAA) have performed outstandingly at the Shuriken Martial Arts International Championships contested between Guyana and Suriname on Sunday August 18th, 2019 in Nickerie, Suriname.

Six members of the Guyana Police Force and two from the Harpy Eagle Martials Arts Club attended these championships on behalf of the two mentioned entities. They returned with 13 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals earned from contesting in five categories, namely: – Empty Hand Kata, Weapons Kata, Point Sparring, Self-Defense and Kick Boxing.
Invited to comment, Sensei Bobb of the GPF said he was extremely proud of the results, as both of these entities have continued to excel in their outings. Bobb said the tournament creates exposure for newcomers from both sides, as they are able to showcase their skills on a large platform. He also noted that there were 25 participants in the tournament, and said he is optimistic that the teams would again participate in this tournament in 2020.
