GPF, GRSC launch debating competition

The Guyana Police Force in collaboration with the Guyana Road Safety Council launched an inter-secondary school debating competition.
Themed, “Stop accidents before it stops you, be alert, accident hurts” the completion saw 16 schools from Regions Four (Demerara-Mahaica), Five (Mahaica-Berbice), Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) and 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) vying for the top spots of best debater, best researcher and the best debating school.

Delivering the feature address during the launching on Friday was Senior Superintendent Errol Watts, who indicated how important road safety is, especially among school children, who are of the most vulnerable group of road users (pedestrians).
Further, he commended the traffic department and its stakeholders for this initiative which will bring about awareness on a wider scale and which will in turn, create a more positive approach by road users.
The competition which will be done in four rounds; the semi-finals and finals will be concluded during the National Road Safety Week which is November 25 to December 1.
The debatable for the competition will deal with traffic issues.
The competition will be televised countrywide with the kind compliments of its sponsors; Hand-in-Hand Trust Corporation, Hack of People’s Beauty Product and James Samuels Jr.
