GPF snatch title from GDF

Joint Services Sports…

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) have truly shown their mettle in a domination of the 2018 edition of the highly competitive Joint Services track and field sporting activities.
Participation in the event came from the GPF, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), the Guyana Fire Service (GFS), the Guyana Prison Service (GPS); and even the City Constabulary, which made appearances in a few events; but anyone familiar with the annual activity is aware that the true contention for the championship always rests between the GPF and the GDF. With athletic teams that train almost every day of the year, this is the event that they await in order to showcase their

skills.
At the last hosting of the event in 2016, The GDF recorded a daunting 88-point victory over their longtime rivals, GPF. But this year, the law officers had enough time to strategise and come up with their A game.
Shining for the Police Team were the likes of Alita Moore, Winston George, Natasha Alder and Winston Missinger. The Police team clinched wins in the 800 metre women’s sprint medley, women’s distance medley, women’s long jump, women’s discus throw, women’s javelin throw, women’s 3000 metre race; men’s 5000 metre race, men’s distance medley, mixed road relay, men’s 200 metre race, men’s high jump, and women’s 100 metre race.
The Police contingent were ecstatic at finally copping the championships, after the GDF had held it for three years.
