The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) has published new exchange rates to be used for customs purposes, effective August 1, 2026.
The rates, issued under Section 22(1)(a) of the Customs Act, Chapter 82:01, will apply for the valuation of imported goods and the collection of customs duties and other related charges.
According to the notice, the United States dollar remains valued at GY$208.50, while the Canadian dollar is listed at GY$148.63. The United Kingdom pound sterling is set at GY$280.58, the European Union euro at GY$239.90, and the Swiss franc at GY$257.69.
Other listed rates include the Chinese yuan at GY$30.90, Indian rupee at GY$2.19, Brazilian real at GY$41.04, Trinidad and Tobago dollar at GY$31.05, and Suriname dollar at GY$5.49.
The GRA noted that the new rates supersede the notification previously published by the Commissioner General under Section 22(2)(c) of the Customs Act in the Official Gazette.
The authority also clarified that the published rates are intended solely for customs collection purposes and may differ from exchange rates used by commercial banks in their transactions.
The notice was issued by GRA Commissioner General Godfrey Statia.
