GRA meets UAE Govt to negotiate double taxation agreement
GRA meets UAE Govt tOfficials from the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the Foreign Affairs Ministry recently met a delegation of representatives from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government for talks on negotiating a double taxation agreement between the two countries.
The engagement was held at the GRA Headquarters on Camp Street, Georgetown, and came at the behest of the Governments of Guyana and the UAE as they sought to reach an accord on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion.
The foreign delegation was led by Economic Expert of the UAE’s Finance Ministry, Hamid Nasr; who was accompanied by Head of Bilateral Treaties Division, Abdalla Al Obaidli; a representative from the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at the Department of International Law, and Second Secretary of Embassy of the
UAE Brasilia, Addelrahman Abdulla Almaazmi.
The Guyanese officials comprised Chairman of the GRA’s Governing Board, Rawle Lucas; Commissioner-General Godfrey Statia; Functional Head of the Legal Department, Lancelot Wills; Legal Officer within the Commissioner-General’s Secretariat, Joy Persaud; and Foreign Service Officer of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Natala Anderson.
Recommendations were drafted from the negotiations, and will be submitted to the respective Governments for review and approval. o negotiate double taxation agreement
