Home News GRA officers injured in drive-by shooting
Two Enforcement Officers of the Guyana Revenue Authority have been injured in a drive-by shooting that occurred at Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara on Thursday evening.
Police say the officers had reportedly gone to a house at Bee Hive at about 21:50h, and were enquiring about its owner when a Toyota Premio and a Toyota Allion approached the officers and they came under fire. The officers allegedly adopted tactical positions and returned fire, resulting in the vehicles leaving the scene. One of the vehicles allegedly carried the registration number PMM 9002.
The officers sustained injuries to their right and left hand respectively. They were treated at a private medical institution and were sent away. Attempts to contact Commissioner General of the Guyana Revenue Authority proved futile.
The Police have launched an investigation into the shooting incident, but, up to press time, no arrests have been made.
