Grand Coastal Golf Tournament in focus

Grand Coastal Hotel’s annual Golf Tournament will tee off today at the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC), with tons of prizes and spoils up for grabs.
A week ago when Kevin Daby, Chief Executive Officer of the Grand Coastal Hotel, handed over the sponsorship cheque to the LGC, he indicated Grand Coastal’s pleasure to continue their now 12 years of sponsorship, which began with his father in support of golfing in Guyana.

In the past Grand Coastal tournaments, winners of the Saturday, November 21, 2015 Grand Coastal tournament were: 1st Fazal Haniff 67/15; 2nd Max Persaud 69/16; 3rd Lakeram Ramsundar 70/12; and 4th Patrick Prashad 71/9; Nearest to the Pin and Best Gross (80) were also won by Patrick Prashad.
The following year, November 19, 2016, persons tied for 1st and 4th places, winners were 1st “Max” Persaud 65/13; 2nd Aleem Hussain 65/17; 3rd Richard Haniff 66/15; 4th Joaan Deo 67/21; and 5th Kalyan Tiwari 67/14.
Up for grabs in this weekend’s tournament are prizes for 1st to 4th Best Net scores, the Best Gross score, a Longest Drive (off a designated tee-box), and the Nearest to a designated Pin. (The flagpole placed in the hole on the Green is called a Pin).
The Net score is the value used to evaluate winners; the lowest Net score is the 1st place winner. A handicap is the number of points the player gets as an advantage and it is subtracted from the players Gross or total score to determine his or her Net score.
