Farfan & Mendes Junior Skill Level Squash Tournament…
The Farfan & Mendes Junior Skill Level Tournament continued on Thursday night at the Georgetown Club Courts with matches in eight of the nine categories being contested.
In ‘Category A’, Michael Alphonso continued his impressive run with another straight set victory, this time over Gianni Carpenter, winning 11-3, 11-9, 11-4; while in ‘Category B’, Nicholas Verwey was equally impressive, as he disposed of Abosaide Cadogan with relative ease in scores of 11-4, 11-6, 11-6.
Also in ‘Category B’, Kirsten Gomes had a much tougher time, needing four games to eventually beat Mohyryan Baksh 11-4, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8.
In ‘Category F’, Grant Fernandes remained unbeaten, defeating Matthew Spooner 11-3, 11-8, and Noah Rahaman 11-3, 11-4. He was crowned champion in this category.
Matches continue today from 11:00 hrs, and continue again at 18:00 hrs, with the finals scheduled to be held on Sunday from 11:00 hrs.
