Newly-crowned 2021 national masters road race champion Walter Grant-Stuart is calling on the newly-appointed Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle and President of the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA), KA Juman-Yassin to support his Paralympics journey.

Grant-Stuart is one of Guyana’s most gifted cyclists, and he is set to depart these shores for Tokyo, Japan to participate in the Paralympics scheduled to be held from August 24 to September 5, 2021.
“I would like to send out a message to the GOA and the newly-appointed Sports Director to help me to get to the high-level training camp to be at full fitness for the Paralympics,” Grant-Stuart said.

During an earlier interview with Guyana Times Sport, Grant-Stuart said he was also seeking assistance from the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF). He said it was a big thing for him to put on the Guyana uniform and get the opportunity to win the gold medal and hear the national anthem.
The national champion, who works at the Fire Service and is Guyana’s only differently-abled cyclist, displayed great skill at recent races.
While plying his trade overseas, the hard-working cyclist won in Canada, rode sixth in Italy, ninth in Belgium and fifth in the Netherlands. In the Pan-American Championships in Peru, Grant-Stuart finished in sixth place.
With all his experience and adding the right ingredients, Grant-Stuart will be going for gold in the Paralympics. He is expected to leave on August 19 and ride his first race on September 1.
