After overwhelming success in 2016, Grass track racing organsiers have several events billed for this year, with the first event being held at Anna Regina Community Centre Ground on March 26.
In April at the South Dakota track, there will be another meet with should be inclusive of Suriname riders. On June 25, the daredevilry is slated to move to West Coast Berbice followed by a trip to neighbouring Suriname in July.
On August 27, it returns to the county of Essequibo but this time at Hampton Court,
followed by which the Mining Town of Linden will be treated on October 29; the grand finale is slated for November 26 at the Ogle Community Centre Ground.
To date 22 riders from Berbice, Essequibo, East Coast of Demerara have confirmed participation, in addition to the Surinamese who are hoping to participate in all the legs.
Ten races are carded for the day across three categories (Professional, Novices and Chappy).
The professional riders will have five races at 12 laps while the Novices will have 10 laps and the Chappy will race five laps.
At the last finals, daredevil ‘Andy’ Wong who rode away with the overall title. It was as early as the second race of the day that Wong began his dominance, beating Junior Da Silva, who came in second and Stephen Nobrega (3rd) to win the first professional race.
Wong went on to win two more professional races as Jerry Da Silva and Marlon Baksh came in second and third respectively as well as Stephen Nobrega and Andy Rajkaran copped second and third in that order of the third professional race.
However, Jerry Da Silva won the final professional race as Stephen Nobrega copped second once more and Rajkaran, third. Wong was crowned champion while Ramcoomar trailed as runner up and Stephen Nobrega third.
Up and coming Avo Ramkumar, conquered the circuit in the novice division winning all three of his races while Daniel Hardeen and N. Mohamed shared the podium to round off the top three.
