The Relief Council was established in 1986 and is mandated to address disasters in Guyana, relying mostly on volunteers and with a very minimal budget. It has reportedly catered for 32 families –128 persons total – who were affected by fire and 16 welfare families comprising in total 45 persons since the beginning of the year.
