Green Machine to host USA South on July 1

RAN North v South Final

The National Rugby team, Green Machine, will host United States of America (USA) South Panthers on July 1 for the Rugby Americas North (RAN) North versus South Championship.
After defeating Trinidad and Tobago 24-17 to win the South Championship, the prediction was that Guyana would travel to Mexico City to play the home side after losing 3-32 last year.

After toppling Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana will now play USA Panthers on July 1 on home turf
A high-octane clash is expected between the two sides

However, Mexico suffered a 39-17 loss to Cayman Islands on Saturday, which meant that USA South topped their group. It is understood that Panthers had 11 points compared to Mexico and Cayman Islands, who both ended on nine points.
Cayman Islands’ 39-17 win over Mexico means that the Caymans have improved their rankings from 43.72 to 45.20 points. Having lost heavily, Mexico’s ranking has fallen from 46.61 to 45.12 points. This translates into Mexico falling from 9th to 12th in the Americas’ Rankings. The Cayman Islands move up one spot to 11th. There are also gains for Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago. Both rise one spot.
Despite the historical results being dead even between the sides, today’s win was an upset. This is also the case despite the Cayman Islands having had home advantage.
Mexico won the 2016 fixture 34-24. Moreover, in this year’s competition, Mexico entered with wins over both the USA South Panthers and Bermuda. The Caymans, by way of comparison, defeated Bermuda but fell in their match against the Panthers.
