…as GRFU heads to poll today

GRFU President Peter Green

The current executive tenure of two years came to end and according to Green who has been in the position since 2013 his commitment will remain to the sport whether he is at head or not.
“If someone else wants to come on board and I feel they can do the job for the next two years I have no hesitation in stepping down and working in another capacity. But make no mistake I am fully committed to rugby and I can serve in another capacity given my experience but it all depends who we decide to lead,” he told Guyana Times Sport in a recent interview.
He added, “I personally am looking to find someone who can head the GRFU in terms of fulfilling my short falls in terms of garnering finances and perhaps I need a rest. I am not sure if will return as president.”
At the last elections in September 2015, Green returned unopposed as president while John Lewis, the former senior vice-president has been replaced by Joshua Griffith. Elwin Chase was elected to serve as junior vice-president, replacing Alwin Etwah. Petal Adams replaced long-serving member Terrence Grant as secretary and Keith White was named treasurer, after Roger Pereira declined re-election.
Ryan Dey (Assistant secretary/treasurer), Esan Griffith (Public Relations Officer) and Shane Grant-Stewart (Match secretary) were the other elected members while Daniel Anderson, Sabola Gray and Delroy Gordon were the committee members. (Akeem Greene)a
