GRFU to host AGM today

…Green not aiming for re-election

The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) will be hosting its Annual General Meeting today at 17:00h which will see all member clubs and members attending the function, which will be held at the Guyana Olympic Association, Block XX, Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown.

Outgoing GRFU President Peter Green

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:
Call to Order, Welcome Remarks – President, Minutes of 2019 Annual General Meeting, Correction and Adoption, Matters Arising, Reports (Honorary Secretary, President, Honorary Treasurer), Election of Office Bearers (2020-2022) and Any Other Business.
According to sources, current GRFU President Peter Green will not be running for re-election this year. It was noted that Green, however, will render his assistance to the association in the form of knowledge he gained during his time as president.
In Green’s two-year tenure, he has managed to clear a vast amount of debt for the association; to date, it is still in the red zone because of unfulfilled promises by various organisations.
Guyana will commence its 2023 World XV International qualifier matches with a home game against old rivals Trinidad and Tobago in late March or early April in the Southern Zone. With the AGM and a new President set to be elected, one can be optimistic that the new committee will be eager to do its best for the GRFU, as it may have to forfeit international games that have been listed for Guyana because of the lack of international-sized rugby pitches.
