Griffith aiming to extend dominance in GCF points classification

– Briton John continues to lead

With the Team Alanis cycling race billed for today, Sunday, July 4, Team Evolution’s Christopher Griffith will be aiming to edge away in the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) points classification system. With Briton John plying his trade overseas and leading the points system with 93, Griffith, who is in second place with 70 points, will look to edge closer to the top.

Alex Mendes leads the masters’ category

Jamual John, who is also riding in the United States, has 53 points while Paul DeNobrega, another favourite for today’s race, has 52 points and will aim to overtake Jamual. Raynauth Jeffrey has 41 points among the seniors while top veteran Alex Mendes has 32 points. Romello Crawford has 20 points.
In the juniors, Berbician Mario Washington leads the points with 27 while Aaron Newton has 26. Another We Stand United rider, Alexander Leung has 22 points while David Hicks has 18. Sherwin Sampson has 13 points in that category.
In the masters’ category, Mendes has 37 points while Evolution’s Stephen Fernandes has 29 points. National masters champion Walter Grant-Stuart has 19 points while Paul Choweenam has 18 and Jaikarran Sukhai has 13. National female champion Suzanne Hamilton is the leading female cyclist in Guyana.

Today’s Team Alanis 55-mile race will commence from 07:00h on Carifesta Avenue and proceed to the Halfway Tree, Perseverance, Mahaicony and then return to finish at the point of origin
