Griffith wins Team Alanis/Carl’s Construction Inc cycle race
Guyana’s Commonwealth Games cyclist and Team Evolution’s Christopher “Chicken Legs” Griffith won the Team Alanis/Carl’s Construction Inc cycle race on Sunday morning at the outer circuits of the National Park, Georgetown. Griffith stopped the clock in one hour, 57 minutes, and 27 seconds in the 22-lap affair.
Griffith was followed by the consistent Briton John, who rode in second in the seniors’ category, followed by Deeraj Ghabarran (third); Robin Persaud (fourth); Curtis Dey (fifth) and Walter Grant Stuart (sixth). Berbician Mario Washington was the top junior rider while Alexander Leung came in second, followed by Ajani Cutting.
Team Evolution’s veteran, Robin Persaud emerged as the winner in the Masters Under-50 category, while Grant Stuart placed second, followed by Segan Hubbard. Meanwhile, in the Masters Over-50, Ian Jackson rode in first, followed by Talim Shaw and Kennard Lovell. Marica Dick was the top female rider.
Briton John claimed five sprint prizes, while Ghabarran and Griffith had two. Kwame Ridley claimed one sprint prize.
