Grove Hi Tech successfully ended the inaugural season of the GFF/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 Intra Association League/East Bank Football Association leg on a winning note on Sunday last at the Grove Playfield.
The Grove boys which ended as the only unbeaten team in the two rounds of competition which has a few more games to play, trounced Highway United 5-2. Also triumphing by a similar margin was Herstelling Raiders which hammered Friendship All Stars.
Kuru Kururu Warriors pocketed full points without breaking a sweat as Agricola Red Triangle failed to put in an appearance.
Scoring for Grove which ended with a positive goal difference of +20, Gregory Stephens with a brace in the 29th and 41st minute, Kashif Tinnee opened proceedings in the first minute of play while Jamassi Benjamin netted in the 60th minute.
Highway United got their goals from Shawn Steele in the 33rd minute and Ishmael Pulsarran in the 69th.
Shoran James was the main architect of Herstelling’s win by blasting the nets on three occasions. He scored in the 9th, 24th and 61st minute while there was one each from Joel Taylor in the 22nd and Damion Persaud in the 65th.
Accounting for Friendship’s goals were Zaheer Rahat in the 6th minute and Xavi Allison in the 38th minute. Grove Hi Tech and Highway United have completed their quota of matches with six teams having one more match to play.
