Grove man denies killing poultry farm employee

Mahindra Bishundial, called “Tyrone”, of Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Monday denied the State’s indictment that he, on November 6, 2012 at Busby Dam, Craig, EBD, murdered 57-year-old Aga Khan during the course of a robbery.
As such, a mixed jury of 12 persons was empanelled before Justice James Bovell-Drakes at the High Court to hear how the Edun Poultry Farms & Hatchery employee met his demise.
Defence counsel Nigel Hughes entered an appearance for the accused man while Prosecutor Shawnette Austin is leading the State’s case against Bishundial. According to reports, Khan was confronted by several robbers and he handed over a bag. He was subsequently shot and rushed to the Diamond hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
It had also been reported that a porter was shot during the ordeal over five years ago. Police had said that Khan was driving motor lorry GJJ 2806, which was owned by his employer. It was observed that the men walked into the vehicle’s path and approached the now deceased man, ordering that he hand over cash.
The Preliminary Inquiry was conducted by former Magistrate Leslie Sobers at the Providence Magistrate’s Court. However, the High Court trial will start on Wednesday.
