Grove man on the run after allegedly beating uncle to death

A man who allegedly beat his uncle to death has now gone into hiding after a heated family dispute. The man identified only as “Nimaya” allegedly beat his uncle, Gary (only name given), during a heated family dispute at southeast Grove on Sunday morning. Reports are that the incident unfolded shortly after the suspect returned home at around 05:15h after attending a concert at Guyana National Stadium on Saturday night. This publication was told that the suspect became enraged after discovering that his uncle, who reportedly lived in the lower flat of the home, had left the yard unsecured with his motorbike exposed.
It was alleged that the uncle had gone out drinking nearby and forgot to properly lock up the premises before leaving. Upon returning home, the nephew allegedly confronted the older man before dragging him from the yard and repeatedly assaulting him. It was also related to this publication that the suspect is known in the area and has reportedly been involved in violent altercations before, and the physical disputes between the nephew and uncle were not uncommon.
Police eventually responded to Sunday’s fatal beating, but no official statement was released to the media.
