capital offence.
Rajen Dindial, 36, of Lot 653 Section C Block Y, Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was slapped with the murder charge and appeared before City Magistrate Judy Latchman.
The charge read that on September 3, 2017, at Sarron Street Grove, EBD, he murdered 25-year-old Alston Henry.
The prosecution is contending that Henry was at a wedding house with Dindial’s relatives when an argument ensued between the duo.
The now dead man reportedly started to act in a disorderly manner and threw down a portable toilet that was on the property where the wedding was being kept.
As such, the accused picked up a dabla (large wooden spoon) and dealt Henry several blows about his body.
The man reportedly fell unconscious but was however picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
As such, the accused was taken into Police custody where he was later charged with the offence.
He was remanded to prison. The case will continue on September 18.
