The Guyana Sport Shooting Federation (GSSF) will commence 2018 with two days of handgun and shotgun practice for members on January 20 and 27; at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Yarrowkabra Range, Timehri.
According to the GSSF, more emphasis will be placed on training and practice rather than jumping straight into live action. The GGSF have secured the range for the two dates which will target shooters in two respective categories of firearms; Trap-shooting (rifles) and handgun training.
The GSSF also released the particulars for the shoot with the Trapshooting Practice using number seven 7 or lighter ammunition. Also, members wishing to have shotgun practice will need to confirm their attendance beforehand so as to ensure that the arrangements are in place for transportation of the trap-machine to the Range.
As per normal, range safety rules will be in effect which means marksmen will have to ensure they are correctly equipped with Ear and Eye protection while for the Handgun division; all calibers will be allowed with the exception of the Trap-shooters who will be required to use the number seven or lighter cartridges.
Ammunition available on the range will include; .22, .32, 9mm, .40 and No. 7.5 shotgun cartridges which are compatible with the various types of targets which include; Paper, Cardboard, Steel Challenge Plates and Sporting Clays for trap-shooting.
The range will be open from 13:30h on both days and will close at 17:00h while Range for the two sessions is $500.00.
