Banks DIH Limited has, through its GT Beer brand, joined Xtreme Clean’s Futsal Tournament, “Gold Rush”. GT Beer Brand Manager Geoff Clement yesterday handed over a cheque in this regard to Managing Director of Xtreme Clean, Shanai Gomes, in a simple ceremony. Public Relations Officer of Banks DIH, Troy Peters, speaking at the presentation ceremony, said the company is “very pleased” to be associated with the tournament, while pointing out that GT beer has been the main brand behind Futsal tournaments in Guyana. Peters maintained that the “Gold Rush” tournament is the “Champion of Champions”, with 24 top teams participating.
Managing Director of Xtreme Clean, Ms. Gomes, expressed appreciation for the sponsorship and said it means a lot that Banks DIH has come on board. She promised that in the coming weeks there will be an “Xtreme” tournament.
The tournament kicks off today and will continue on May 27th and 28th. The Final is set for next month. The tournament has a round robin format, with teams having to win in order to progress to the next round, while a defeat means automatic elimination.
The first prize is $500,000, while second prize is $200,000. And apart from cash prizes, fans will have a chance to win a pennyweight of gold on each night of the tournament. Entry to games cost $300 on the opening nights, while entry to the Finals is $1000.
The opening fixtures are as follows: May 26th: Agricola vs BV “A” at 19:00rs; Festival City vs Albouystown at 19:30hrs; Sophia vs Dave and Celina’s All-Stars at 20:00hrs; Showstoppers vs Tiger Bay at 20:30hrs; Broad Street vs West Back Road at 21:00hrs; and Sparta Boss vs Kitty at 21:30hrs.
May 27th: Tucville vs Melanie at 19:00hrs; Plaisance vs Alexander Village at 19:30hrs; Bent Street vs Campbellville at 20:00hrs; North East La Penitence vs Future Stars at 20:30hrs; Gold is Money vs North Ruimveldt at 21:00hrs; and Back Circle vs Globe Yard at 21:30hrs.
The tournament is set to be an exciting and action packed affair, with teams like Sparta Boss, Back Circle, Bent Street, Goal is Money, Broad Street and Tiger Bay participating.
