GT woman charged, fined for importing dogs without necessary permit

Forty-year-old Elizebath Chung, also called “Liza”, a chef from Alberttown and Alexander Village, Georgetown, was fined $20,000 for allegedly importing dogs without the necessary permit. Chung was reportedly arrested at the Bina Hill Police Checkpoint in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) and then charged for importing 10 dogs without the necessary permit.

She appeared before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where she pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to her.
