The biggest of the mega golf tournaments for the entire 2021 was held at the Lusignan Golf Club in the form of the GTT Guyana Open on October 30-31, 2021.
Emerging as tournament winners were Aavinda Kishore and Shanella London. GTT’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Business Solutions, Orson Ferguson, has declared that investing in the tournament proved to be a big win for the telecommunications giant.

In his remarks made at the closure of the tournament, Ferguson said, “Obviously, the Open is the biggest in Guyana, and the Lusignan Golf Club is the home of golf in Guyana. So, once we decided that we are going to be investing in golf, there was only one option for us, which is to be with the Open and to be with the Lusignan Golf Club. So, this was actually a no-brainer for us, and we really enjoy the sport of golf, and we think it has a lot of lessons for the public as well as our customers, and we think that investing in golf and putting our name to this tournament was actually a big win for GTT.”

LGC Executive Pandit Rabindranauth Persaud confidently declared that the club had observed all COVID-19 guidelines set out by the National Task Force, because the LGC embraces the guidelines. “Apart from the guidelines, golfing is more of an open-air sport, and people will come here as they know their risk is lower. We have had quite a lot of tournaments from the ending of June coming down, and as the vaccinations started to get in, people started to come out more. So, while we were affected a little, we are improving a lot,” he said.
