GTT hosts duck curry competition

Duck curry pots bubbled on the fire, filling the atmosphere with tantalizing aroma as the sun blazed over the Demerara Park on Saturday, while chefs sweated under the heat and children bounced the trampoline.
This was the duck curry competition hosted by the Guyana Telephone Telegraph (GTT) in efforts to promote cohesion and solidarity between the staff from the various branches across the country.
The event saw the participation of fifteen teams from the company’s branches, representing departments from as far as Bartica and Essequibo.
President of the Organising Committee, Malini Gouridat, spoke to Guyana Times and relayed that she believes a unified staff would be better equipped to efficiently serve customers and the wider Guyanese community.
“We want to bring our staff together so that they can better serve the public. I believe that a unified staff would actually contribute and serve our customers more…” she stated.
The year’s competition was no doubt a stiff one. This publication also spoke to several enthusiastic chefs, who seemed well prepared and confident of winning the ,000 cash prize. The first runner-up will receive ,000 while the third prize winner will be awarded ,000 cash.
In addition, all the cooks will be treated to an aerial tour of Guyana.
The duck curry competition was successfully executed through partnerships with Banks DIH, Star Party Rentals, King’s Jewellery World, Sol Guyana, and Beharry Group of Companies, among other sponsors.
