GTT urging public to report vandalism of equipment
Chief Executive Officer of GTT Justin Nedd has issued a call to the public, urging them to report instances of vandalism of the company’s equipment
Nedd in an exclusive interview with Guyana Times related that in most instances, persons who witness vandalism and sabotage fail to report it to the telephone company and the police. He explained that there are frequent incidents where telephones lines are cut and the cables are stolen.
As such, the company has to bear the cost of repairs and customers’ services are often disrupted for lengthy periods. He therefore issued the call to the public to file all reports with the relevant authorities when they witness the destruction of GTT’s equipment.
“It’s sad to say that the society that we live in continues to allow this. In many instances, there’s sabotage and people that live right there don’t report it. So I would really encourage persons to dial our call centre, dial the Police and report the instances of vandalism because not only is it a cost to us but there’s also a loss to the customers,” he pointed out.
Meanwhile, the CEO also revealed that there are a number of plans underway in terms of upgrades and expansions to ensure customers receive improved services. He explained that GTT has been making its broadband internet service available countrywide for customers, and is continuously looking for ways to improve the service.
“We’re right across the Coast, we are in Region Two all along the coast to Region Six, and then we go all the way into Linden which is Region Ten. We’re always looking at ways to increase the speed which is always good for the Country,” he stated.
He continued to explain that GTT recently launched its 4G internet service which has seen customers browsing the internet at a faster speed, with the company already setting its sight on increasing the speed to 5G and above: “Last year we slashed prices by 50 per cent, increased speed five folds, and that’s something we intend to constantly introduce… increase speeds, reduce prices and adding value. The future is bright for our customers,” Nedd declared.
