Home Sports GTTA National Seniors to continue today
…Grand finale set for Sunday
After two weekends of back-to-back action, the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will bring down the curtains as the seniors battle it out at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall today and Sunday.
The highly-anticipated fixtures will see some of Guyana’s top players continuing play from last weekend and in new match-ups. The ‘C’ Class final will see Ishaka Jackman and Saalih Rahim duke it out. Jonathan Van Lange and Colin Wong are the two victors of the U-21 semi-finals, and will face each other in the grand finale. In the 21-years-and-under ladies’ match, Jasmine Billingy and Thuraia Thomas will be pitted against each other as they battle for the top spot. The battle will continue in the men’s doubles as the pairs of Jonathan Van Lange/Shemar Britton, Nirran Bissu/Terrence Rausch, Christopher Franklin/Godfrey Munroe and Colin Wong/Miguel Wong face off against each other. The final event to continue from last weekend will be the mixed doubles as at the close of play, group 1’s Chelsea Edghill/Shemar Britton had topped that group with four points, while group 2’s Christopher Franklin and Natalie Cummings led with four points as well.
The weekend will also witness the B Class, singles men’s and ladies’ seniors, men’s KO rounds, and the finals set for later on in the evening.
Seeding for all the events will be done based on the results of the last national championships or domestic competitions in the first instance or international ranking if currently available for players that did not participate in domestic tournaments/estimated or last rank of player in previous competition.
By entering the event, all participants agree to abide by all International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) rules and by the rules and regulations of the organisers. All clubs’ individual players agree to abide by the rulings of the ITTF and its agents in all matters concerning television coverage, video, Internet web casting, motion picture coverage, and photographic coverage of any kind.

Participants release all rights, or rights held by their agents or sponsors, in all matters relating to television and web casting coverage, video and motion picture coverage, and photographic coverage of any kind; and hence accept such coverage during the event. Any participant, when called upon, must appear promptly to press conferences or medal presentations and follow the procedures set by the ITTF and the organisers.
All finals will be played on Sunday, February 6, 2022 and are set to commence from 16:00h. First-, second, and third-place winners will be awarded with medals of gold, silver, and bronze in all categories.
The event will be livestreamed on the GTTA’s Facebook page.
