The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GTT) Company’s Brickdam retail store was burglarised on Friday, and this has forced a temporarily closure as investigations continue.
GTT’s Communications Manager Nicola Balram confirmed that the store was robbed in the wee hours of Friday. She said the company is currently conducting an assessment of its losses, and would soon be able to evaluate same. Further, she noted that the company is also reviewing CCCTV footage.
“We have a team at the site doing some investigations. Once that’s completed, we will be able to give more details,” she explained.

However, she has posited that the location would be reopened for regular business on Monday.
“We’re going to complete assessments by Saturday, so on Monday we will be opened for normal hours,” she said.
This comes on the heels of another robbery that occurred on March 26 at the company’s Camp and Regent Streets store.
The then Public Relations Manager of the company, Jasmin Harris, in a release to the media, had stated that no one was hurt during the robbery, but several items were stolen.
Further, in February 2020, GTT’s kiosk at Giftland Mall was robbed of an undisclosed sum of cash. Two men were arrested for that robbery.
