A male guard from a private security firm has been hospitalised after being shot while intercepting two armed men who attempted to rob a city hotel.
Reports are the incident occurred at about 22:45h on Friday at the Regency Hotel on Hadfield Street, Georgetown.
According to reports, the guard, who is stationed at the hotel, was on duty when the two armed men approached the business.
The men were intercepted by the guard, and during the confrontation the bandits discharged several rounds, one of which hit the guard in the abdomen.
Despite being injured, the guard managed to open fire on the bandits to ward them off the business premises, and they made good their escape.
The injured man was rushed to seek medication attention, and is currently hospitalised at a private medical institution in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing and the two suspects are being sought.
