This past Sunday at the Burnham Hard Court, the Republic Bank Nets outscored the Ravens while Plaisance Guardians headlined the night as they humbled the Eagles in the Under-23 division as the Rainforest Water/Malta Supreme/ Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) league continued.
In the First Division match-up, the Republic Bank Nets clashed with the Ravens who continued their see-saw season losing 70-73. Ravens tried as they maintained an excellent first-quarter lead of 18 to 10, but went back to their old tradition which saw Nets easily creeping past them to lead 32-28 at the half.
They somehow managed to get their game plan back on track as they held the Nets 52-48 at the end of the third. However, with the Nets so close behind, the free-scoring nature of the game saw them tie at the final whistle which pushed the game into extra time. The Nets got eight on the board and restricted the opposition to scoring only five points.
The Nets were once again led by Sheldon Howell, who backed up his last score of 21 points with a magnificent 30 points to take his team over the line.
In the headline match-up of the night, the in-form Plaisance Guardians crushed the Eagles recording an 82-67 win. It did not matter what angle the game was viewed from, the Guardians were just too strong for the Eagles as they won convincingly.
Top-scoring for the Guardians was once again Terrence Daniels, with a whopping 32 points, and he was offered support from Andrew Johnson (11).
As per normal, Sherland Gillis and Shemar Huntley traded in good performances, with 18 and 16 points respectively.
