Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ futsal tourney: Four teams storm into quarterfinal stage
High Rollers, Amazings, DC Ballers, and Whap-Whap have secured their respective quarterfinal berths when the Linden edition of the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ futsal tournament continued on Thursday at the Silver City Hardcourt.
High Rollers downed Hill Side Ballers 2-0 in the feature game of the evening, with Jonah Simon and Robin Adams making their presence felt in the respective 12th and 26th minutes of the game.
Amazings brushed aside Universal Ballers 4-1, with George Stephen bagging a double in the seventh and 12th minutes, while Tyrese Lewis and Brentley Allicock each scored a goal in the respective 14th and 22nd minutes of the game.
Universal Ballers’ Omari Gordon found the back of the net in the 19th minute.
DC Ballers downed Speightland 3-0, with Nicholas Gentle, David Fiedtkou and Allan Halley scoring in the eighth, 16th, and 21st minutes respectively.
And What-Whap edged Back Street Ballers 6-5. For the victors, Malcolm Miggins recorded the fastest goal in the history of the tournament, scoring in 10 seconds, alongside a 20th-minute conversion.
His team mate Antwoine Gill scored in the eighth and 12th minutes, as did Jeshawn Moore in the 10th, and 22nd minutes.
For Back Street Ballers, Seon Barrat netted in the fifth minute, while Guinness Goals (GG) (a goal scored in the final three minutes counts as two) were registered by Robin Wren and Isaiah Adams in the 28th and 29th minutes respectively.
The quarterfinal round will be played at the same venue on Tuesday.
