Guinness “Greatest of the Streets” Linden: Swag Entertainment seal 3-peat

Swag Entertainment reigned supreme on Saturday at the Amelia’s Ward/Wisroc Car Park when they achieved a three-peat of titles in the Guinness “Greatest of the Streets” Linden Championship.
Swag Entertainment defeated Universal Ballers in a nail-biting 2-1 final on their way to their third consecutive championship.
With the win, Swag became only the second team to achieve such a feat, after Showstoppers of West Demerara claimed three consecutive zonal titles.
In the championship game, Universal Ballers’ Mortimer Giddings found the back of the net first in the fifth minute to hand his team the lead. However, Swag Entertainment’s Deon Carter struck four minutes later, to bring the scores level.
With time running out, it was Swag’s Colwyn Drakes who found the game winner in the 13th minute, slotting home from the centre of the field after receiving a left-sided pass.
In the third-place playoff, spectators were treated to sudden-death kicks from the penalty mark, after a contest between Speightland and Anybody Got It ended in deadlock.
From the penalty mark, Speightland prevailed 4-3 over their opponents.
