Police in Regional Division Four B are investigating the discovery of a firearm that was found during an operation at Prospect Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD), on Thursday.
According to Police, ranks received information that a man had entered a business establishment and was later seen carrying what appeared to be a firearm.
Acting on the report, Police went to Prospect Housing Scheme, where they made contact with a 26-year-old Venezuelan national.
Further investigations led officers to a construction site in the area, where a search was conducted. During the exercise, Police discovered a black pistol with an empty magazine concealed at the location.
Ranks also found several cellular phones and a Rambo-style knife during the search.
The firearm, magazine, cellular phones and knife were seized and lodged as investigations continue.
The Venezuelan national remains in Police custody.
