Gun, ganja, ecstasy unearthed during Police raids in Bartica

A miner was arrested after he was found to be in possession of an unlicensed magnum pistol at a business place at Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni). Based on information received, a party of Police ranks acting on information went to the business place and conducted a search during which the weapon was found on the 28-year-old miner of Karasabai, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).
He was arrested and is being processed for court. Meanwhile, a 34-year-old miner was taken into Police custody following the discovery of 42 grams of cannabis and 28.3 grams of ecstasy in his possession.
According to reports, Police ranks were performing duties in Bartica and while in the vicinity of Third Avenue, Bartica, the man was seen acting in a suspicious manner; thus prompting the Police to conduct a search on his person.
He remains in custody and is expected to make his court appearance today.
