Home News Gunmen in custody for attempted robbery of gold dealer
Three men are now in Police custody at Mabaruma, Region One (Barima-Waini), after they reportedly attempted to rob a gold miner.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 14:00h on Monday at the businessman’s Mabaruma, Wanaina Hill, North West District home.
Guyana Times understands that the three men – one of whom is reported to be a taxi driver – parked some distance away from the businessman’s home where they exited the vehicle.
The gunmen then managed to gain entry into the man’s home where they proceeded to terrorise the family in their quest to escape with valuables.
The gold dealer’s son reportedly had to be taken to the hospital after he was attacked by one of the men and gun butted in the face.
However, the men escaped empty handed after they got wind of someone making contact with the Police.
They were all later apprehended by lawmen and are now in custody where they are expected to be charged shortly.
