Gunmen invade Eccles home; 3 Chinese nationals robbed

Three Chinese nationals were robbed at gunpoint on Friday afternoon after four men invaded their Eccles, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home, forcing them inside and ransacking the property before escaping with cash and valuables.
The robbery occurred at about 15:53h on Friday as the victims were returning home and exiting their motorcar in the garage.
Reports indicate that the men were suddenly confronted by four suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The perpetrators then forced the victims into the house, where they proceeded to search both the upper and lower flats.
During the attack, the suspects escaped with $500,000, US$900, 1000 Mexican dollars, and 200 Hong Kong dollars, along with a Chinese identification card and other personal documents.
CCTV footage from the property has since been retrieved and is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
In a separate incident an hour earlier, two men were arrested during an intelligence-led operation at Mocha, East Bank Demerara, as investigators continue to probe recent armed robberies and break-and-enter incidents.
The suspects, a 22-year-old vendor of Barnwell North and a 21-year-old construction worker from the same community, were held between 15:00h and 17:00h on Friday.
They are being investigated in connection with a robbery under arms committed at a Chinese supermarket at Goed Fortuin, West Coast Demerara, on Thursday, as well as a break-and-enter-and-larceny at a dwelling house in Eccles on the same date.
Following their arrest, the men were taken to the Providence Police Station, where they were questioned and subsequently placed into custody.
Investigators have since reviewed CCTV footage from both incidents, which aided in identifying the suspects.
