Twenty-seven-year-old Munifa Erskine of Liliendaal, South Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was on Friday robbed of her motorcycle, CK 1906, by two armed bandits. One of them was armed with a handgun.
The woman was robbed at about 18:00h at Dennis Street and Stone Avenue, Georgetown, by two men on a motorcycle.
According to the woman, she was proceeding east along Dennis Street on her motorcycle, but while approaching Stone Avenue, the perpetrators rode up alongside her on a red motorcycle.
She told Police that the pillion rider kicked her off of the motorbike, causing her to fall to the ground. According to the woman, the suspect then dismounted, whipped out a handgun and discharged a round in her direction.
He then picked up the motorcycle valued $178,000 and he along with his accomplice made good their escape south along Stone Avenue. She subsequently sought help and reported the matter to the Police. An investigation has since been launched.
Just days ago, a 49-year-old vendor of Hadfield Street, D’Urban Backland, Georgetown, was robbed of his Honda motorcycle by three men, one armed with a handgun.
Reports are that the victim was relieved of his motorcycle bearing registration number CJ 5092 at about 20:45h along Duncan Street, Georgetown.
According to Police, Rajesh Khan was on his way home from work and was riding along Duncan Street, when the three men approached him from behind.
He told investigators that the men approached him on two motorcycles and held onto his bike, causing him to come to a halt.
The pillion rider from one of the motorcycles then came off the bike and whipped out a handgun from his waist and demanded that Khan hand over his bike.
The man complied, and the men took the motorcycle and made good their escape east along Duncan Street. Police reports said the motorcycle was valued at some $185,000. (G9)
