Four men on motorcycles executed a daring robbery on a Chinese supermarket at Industry, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Wednesday evening.
Based on reports received, the 28-year-old businesswoman who operates the Wan Li Supermarket was about to close the business when she was confronted by four males, all of whom were wearing skull hats and face masks.
They arrived at the scene on two separate motorcycles, and the two pillion riders rushed into the supermarket and held the businesswoman at gunpoint, before ransacking the cashier area and collecting an undisclosed sum of cash while their accomplices waited outside.
While the robbery was in progress, a 37-year-old man reportedly drove up to the supermarket to make a purchase, and he was accosted by the waiting bandits with a demand that he hand over his valuables. Fearful for his life, the man drove off at a fast rate, but collided with a fence as one of the gunmen reportedly fired two shots in his direction.
Soon after, the two pillion riders exited the supermarket and jumped on their motorcycles, by which they fled the scene.
The Police have confirmed that no one was injured, but an investigation is underway.
