Four armed men on Saturday executed a daring daylight robbery on Mima Décor located at Lot 8 Sheriff Street, Georgetown.

The gunmen escaping on motorbikes

The proprietor of the store, who requested anonymity since she operates another business in the city, relayed that the men stormed into the showroom about 10 minutes after it was opened for business on Saturday morning.
Guyana Times was told that after the men entered the business place, they ordered everyone in the building to lie on the ground after which one of the gunmen went to the cash booth, but the cashier was not there.
As such, he broke the door and took all the money that was in the cash register. The men then proceeded to the main store and ordered everyone there to lie on the ground as they ransacked the building.
One of the men was overheard asking, ‘where is the money? I know it is in here…” After several searches, they finally found an undisclosed sum of money in a drawer.
Following the heist, the four men made good their escape on motorbikes that were parked outside the building. The robbery was reported and the Police launched an investigation using the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage.
Up to press time, no arrests have been made.
