…9mm warhead found in compound
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has launched an investigation into the alleged discharge of a loaded firearm in the vicinity of the Office of the President in Georgetown on Friday night. The incident occurred at about 21:15h on August 21, when a police rank stationed at the location heard what sounded like a gunshot coming from the direction of the Square of the Revolution. During subsequent checks of the compound, police observed an indentation with surrounding cracks on the windscreen of a motor bus attached to the Office of the President. The bus was parked on the northeastern side of the compound and was facing south.
A 9mm warhead was also found on the ground in front of the vehicle. The item was lodged pending examination. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and have questioned several persons as part of the investigation.
