‒ Jamaica remain undefeated

Guyana triumphed against Trinidad and Tobago by 48 runs to win their first match of the tournament on Wednesday at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Camp Ayanganna Ground in the Les Harris Teachers T20 tournament.

After losing their first match on Tuesday to Jamaica, the hosts rebounded strongly against their closest Caribbean neighbor in a display that saw them scoring 154-4 before returning to restrict the teachers from the twin Island Republic to 106-9 from 20 overs.
Former inter-county players Balram Samaroo, the skipper of the side, made 52 while Wayne Osbourne top scored with 76 with Guyana batted. Ranole Bourne and Darnell Douglas chipped in with 15 not out and 13 respectively. Dehan Seeram bagged 2-19 to finish as T&T best bowler.
In the visitor’s turn at the crease only Vinood Maharaj (30) looked firm against the Guyanese bowling attack which was spearheaded by off spinner Andrew Williams (4-13) and pacer Kevin Paul (4-19).
In the second match of the day at the said venue, Jamaica had an easy task in recording a mammoth win against the Bahamas.
The lads from the Reggae Island dismissed Bahamas for 25 in 11.1 overs in an innings that six batsmen failed to score.
Dwight Stewart orchestrated the collapse and received support from Gavaskar Malachi (2-8) and Darren Mc Taggart (2-0).
Jamaica raced to 28 without loss in 1.2 overs, with Kemar Cox and Darrian Gordon, both promoted up the order, remaining unbeaten on 12 and 11 respectively.
