Guyana Carnival kicks off with pool party tonight at Tower poolside

– 22 other events confirmed for Carnival 2018

After months of planning, Guyana Carnival kicks off this evening with the official launch at Palm Court, followed by Timeka Marshal’s pool party dubbed “4TM” at Tower poolside, Main Street, Georgetown.
The event will feature the Guyanese songstress and will include Deejays Shizzle, Blank, Clyclone and Richie Das. It will be a night of lots of booze, bikinis and babes and is one you just cannot miss.
The action continues on Saturday evening with “Destraction”
, featuring the queen of bacchanal, Destra and queen of dancehall, Spice, at the National Park. This is one of the highly anticipated events of Guyana Carnival, 2018. Both artistes can work the crown and engage their fans fully. They are also known for their electrifying performances.
Another highly anticipated event is “Tuesday on the Rocks” slated for the Marriott Hotel’s parking lot on May 22, featuring Kes the Band and Ravi B.
Many are also excited about the “Mawning” breakfast party on May 24 at the Marriott beach front, as well as the “Friends at Sea Cruise” on May 23. “Wet” Wednesday is slated for the University of Guyana, Greater Georgetown and the “Big People” party is set for the same day at the National Park.
Some other notable events are “Come Out to Play – Bright Colours” on May 19, “Shell Down Monday” on May 21 and the “Bare Skinz” Pool Party on May 22.
Carnival chasers and locals have already started booking tickets for many of the major events, such as “RevelNation” on the night of May 25; a concert that features headliners such as Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin and Fayann Lyons. This event, which is expected to be electrifying, will be held at the Guyana National Stadium.
In addition, on May 25 as well, there will also be the “Stink and Dutty” Moving J’Ouvert, the “Scorch Duck Work” and the Miss World Pageant. The J’Ouvert is slated for the National Park while the Miss World Guyana is billed for the Pegasus Hotel.
On May 26, Independence Day, all roads will lead to Georgetown for the road tramp. This starts at Thomas Lands and the revellers will head to D’Urban Park and back to the National Park. Several bands are already booked for the road tramp. These include Pulse Entertainment and others.
After the parade on May 26, the fun continues at “Soca Rave” where thousands are likely to converge in the National Park to witness Patrice Roberts, Kerwin Dubois, Niala Blackman, Blaxx, Ravi B, KI and many others.
Meanwhile, on May 27, the “Suits Boat Cruise” and “Kool Out Cooler Fete” will culminate the 10 days of revelry, fun and excitement.
Apart from all the regional and international artistes, many of our local singers will also be a big part of the revelry, with their recent hits taking centre stage for the Carnival season. These artistes include Michelle “Big Red” King, Jonathan “Lil Red” King, Timeka Marshal, Jomo “Rubber Waist” Primo, Kwesi “Ace” Edmundson, Trevon Vibes, Brandon Harding, Lil Corwin, Jay Anderson and Drew Thoven among others.
Guyana Carnival is slated for May 18 to 27. The organising committee has already released tickets for all of the events and these can be purchased at the following locations – Tower Hotel, Giftland Mall, Nigel’s Supermarket, Exclusive Styles, Clairan’s and That Look Boutique.
