With anticipation building to a frenzy as Sunday August 14 draws closer – the day when the 14th edition of the Guyana Cup, Guyana’s premier horseracing event, would be held at the Rising Sun Turf Club in Region 5 – the Trophy Stall has jumped on board this action with a donation to the event.

The Trophy Stall is sponsoring the Champion Jockey Trophy for Sunday’s races, and according to proprietor Ramesh Sunich, who has always been an avid supporter of all sporting disciplines, he has made this donation in honour of his father Neville Sunich, who had been a jockey in his heyday.
Justin Ally, a member of the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee (JJTRC), promotors of this unmatchable event, was on hand to receive the trophy on Thursday.
The Guyana Cup will have three feature races on Sunday, foremost of which is the Banks DIH Cup, to be contested over a mile for a purse of US$35,880. The Associated Construction Services Derby Stakes would also be contested over a mile, and the winner’s purse is US$17,940; while the Val’s Construction Sprint Classic, being contested over 5.5 furlongs, has a winner’s purse of US$10,765.
After the races, Dancehall Artiste Skillibeng is set to ignite the crowd as the headline act in the entertainment to follow, and a number of other regional and local stars have been booked to perform.
