Guyana and the United States have been engaged in a series of high-level talks aimed at strengthening bilateral relations across key areas, including energy, defence, diplomacy, and economic cooperation.

Among the officials they engaged are United States Secretary of Energy Chris Wright; Acting Assistant Secretary of War for Homeland Defence and Hemispheric Affairs Joseph Humire; and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
It was noted that the discussions during these engagements focused on energy security, border security cooperation, irregular migration, illicit trafficking, and regional stability. Throughout the engagements, the US reaffirmed its strong and unwavering support for Guyana’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Following the meeting on Tuesday, the US State Department said in a statement that Deputy Secretary of State Landau discussed the growing partnership between the two nations with the Guyanese foreign minister.
During the meeting, Landau highlighted the importance of increasing US private sector engagement in Guyana and expanding commercial ties between the two countries.
According to the State Department, the discussions focused on shared economic priorities and opportunities for American companies to contribute to Guyana’s development through sustainable investment and commercial partnerships. The two officials also examined ways to deepen economic cooperation as Guyana continues to attract international interest and investment.
The State Department added that the meeting reaffirmed the strong and expanding partnership between Georgetown and Washington.
Todd and Foreign Secretary Persaud were joined during these engagements by Guyana’s Ambassador to the US, Samuel Hinds, Advisor Wazim Mowla, and Minister Counsellor Keishanna Sullivan.
